Not only do I have a shiny new garage, I’ve also been designated a portion of the basement to set up a man cave. It’ll be a place not only for me to go relax away from my fiancee’s kids, but also to work, and for my ham radio station to get set up.

I’ve had the steel table, plus a banker’s desk not in this picture, since my dad gave them to me years ago. I’d hide under them in a nuclear blast and probably come out the other side all right, and they were built at a time when that sort of thing was a very real possibility. My dad built the second level, which is good for computer monitors and such, and for stashing ham radio equipment out of the way underneath. I’ve traditionally used this with a desktop computer, but since switching to laptops I’m going to set this up a little differently. The monitor (still packed) will be an additional monitor for the laptop. I’ll plug in an external mouse, too, which makes it easier to crop images to pixel perfect size for various sites’ image specifications. My current laptop doesn’t have 1/8” audio jacks for my nice speakers, so I put my disconnected iPhone 4S back into service to stream Pandora off the wifi for my tunes.

Games will remain upstairs in a room specifically set aside for them - mainly for her kids, but I’ll definitely be taking my turn at them as well. The ham radio station will get set up later, but I already have everything I need to do it. It’s just a matter of time, plus a modified arrow that I can shoot over some tree branches in the back yard to string up a long wire.

Put up some of my car posters for inspiration, and I should be in pretty good shape down there.

You need to buy my Logitech G27 so you can play some iRacing! ;)

I have a Logitech wheel (don’t remember which one) and haven’t had time for iRacing for months. I don’t expect that’ll change anytime soon with all the Houselopnik stuff going on!

One of the most overrated beers now that I know better.

I used to adore it, now I just like it

I can see that either being really awesome or going horribly wrong. Either way make sure you get a video.

Lol I know the feeling. I’m getting rid of it because I just picked up a G920 so I could use it for both Xbox One and PC, so now I need to get rid of my G27

I feel like the Batman Begins soundtrack should play whenever someone sets up a man cave.

I make my own arrows for SCA target archery. I have a couple that have broken just behind the metal tip (the shaft is cedar). I figure I’ll leave the blunt end, drill a small hole at the center of gravity, and tie a string through it. Then I shoot it into the woods over some branches, making sure it’s clear downrange first, of course. Without a tip, the arrow would just bounce off any tree it hits instead of sticking in it. After its flight, the weight of the arrow will bring it back to the ground. Then I tie some stronger rope onto the string, and the wire onto the rope, and pull the whole thing up. The string goes away, I tie off the rope onto a branch near the ground, and my wire antenna is suspended.

Understandable. Unfortunately I’m too far West for them to distribute so I have to have friends bootleg it back for me.

Although more than anything I prefer my homebrew, which admittedly is a 100% biased opinion!

As I understand it, Yuengling is brewed in two locations, and the water is far better in one of the locations, making the beer superior to the product brewed in the other location. My uncle told me this, and he ought to know, so don’t bother trying to disabuse me of this notion.

When you say it like that it sounds far to safe!

So you should probably light the arrow on fire...

That’s a very common method.

With a fishing reel to pull the rope and antenna up into the tree.

I’d argue one of the most underrated beers.

Yes, it is Cheap Beer. But is by far the best Cheap Beer I’ve ever had. I prefer craft beers (and brew my own too), but when I’m in the mood for a cheap cold one, I haven’t found anything that beats a Yuengling Black & Tan.
